Technical Seminars

Technical seminars are open to members only and held on the last Wednesday of the month.   Prior to the seminar, we have 'happy half-hour' drinks and nibbles.  Please feel free to stay on afterwards and catch up with some of your colleagues.

There is no charge to attend.

Wednesday 29th February.

Bore licensing issues.

We have had a slight change in the format of the evening, as a representative from the Office of Water is, unfortunately, no longer able to attend the meeting.   Instead, we will be running an open forum on the topic of Licensing issues, including a summary of the new regulation regarding environmental monitoring bores (covering topics such as dewatering, remediation extraction, etc). We may have an opportunity to make suggestions for streamlining the licensing of environmental monitoring bores – come along and have your say so that ACLCA is prepared to respond quickly.

Time: 5.00pm for 'happy half-hour' drinks & nibbles

Venue: GHD, Level 15, 133 Castlereagh Street, Sydney.

Wednesday 28th March.

Overview of CRC CARE II.

Dr Cheryl Lim will describe the CRC CARE program structure and themes, highlighting NSW-based partners, NMI and UTS (as well as ACLCA), and their interests and capabilities.
NMI – nano-metrology, POPs, air quality measurement and (possibly) coal seam gas.
UTS – Institute for Sustainable Futures (social and policy research) and Centre for Technology for Water and Wastewater (engineering application to remediation).
Currently 3 CRC CARE II projects are led by NMI and UTS with focus on Improved measurement of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (NMI, Chemcentre, UniSA), Road Deposited Sediment (UTS, NMI) and Fibreoptic Photocatalysis (UTS).  Planned Directions for Measurement Program will be outlined.

Time: 5.00pm for 'happy half-hour' drinks & nibbles

Venue: to be confirmed.

Please advise Executive Officer (aclcansw@optusnet.com.au) if you will be attending so that adequate catering can be organised.
